Fife Writes at StAnza 2024

We were at StAnza, Scotland's International Poetry Festival, again this year. This is the second time we have been invited by the organisers to get involved and run some events. We ran three 'Writing Hours' over the weekend, one each day as well as attending and performing at the Poetry Market on the Sunday morning.

It is a great event to get involved in and we sold quite a few of our members' anthologies. George read from both of them during his performance and it was well received.

10th Anniversary

Our 10th Anniversary Day in Cupar, on Saturday 24th February, was very successful. We had a great day of workshops and performances as well as a brilliant display of members' work. We had a book stall selling our latest anthology as well as members' own publications and everyone seemed to have a great time.

We can't wait until our next birthday :)

Book Week 2023

Poetic Adventures

Fife Writes ran two workshops during Book Week Scotland 2023, one on Tuesday 14th November (Zoom), and the other, in-person, on Sunday 19th November. Both were very well attended and very well received. They were run by Rebecca Sharp on the theme of Adventure, which was the Book Week Theme this year.

Lilian Kennedy Brzoska: director and performer at heart of Fife's creative scene

Lilian, our Chair, interviewed for Fife Today

Recently, Lilian was interviewed by Lisa May Young from Fife Today. Lisa also attended our Open Mic at the Live Lounge and took a wonderful picture of many of the performers.

New Committee

After the AGM held on 4th July, Fife Writes has a new committee to take forward the many discussion points that have been raised. You can see who they are on our Home Page.

Looking for Committee Members

With both Sheila and Kathryn standing down at the AGM in 2023 (when we eventually hold it) we will be desperately short of volunteers to help run Fife Writes. If you can spare any time at all, please get in touch to let us know. All help will be appreciated.

StAnza 2023

Fife Writes was at StAnza this year. We had been invited to run two 'Writing Hour' workshops, plus hosting the Friday Night Open Mic in the Byre Theatre. It all went extremely well and a massive thank you to Kathryn for being chief liaison officer between us and the StAnza crew, to Lilian and Marianne for running the two workshops, and George for hosting the Open Mic night.

We took the opportunity to launch our first anthology of members' work at the festival, and Kathryn worked hard on the Sunday morning fayre ensuring copies were available for sale. If you would like a copy of the booklet, see our members page for more details.

Fife Writes Celebrate their 100th Event

We held our 100th event in Cupar on 17th January. The workshop, led by Marianne Berghuis, was a fantastic success and we celebrated by having cake! Below is an article copied from the Fife Herald mentioning our event.
